Brief Answer:
Assess medications and check nutritional status first

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If someone has unintentional weight loss more than 5% in 6 months I really get worried and order all the possible investigations to find the root cause of the problem.
IN your case first we need to assess all the medications and find if they are the cause of weight loss especially in diabetes. Second the weight loss could be due to malnutrition. If you stopped eating carbs then you tend to have ill balanced nutrition devoid of certain minerals. We also need to check if the weight loss is due to fat loss (body fat index) or muscle loss. So get the Total body fat now and after one more month. A dietitian can help understand this.
Let your doctor know about this weight loss and get the following tests apart from regular CBC: Thyroid profile, Liver function, Kidney function, HbA1c, FBS, Serum Protein.
Let me know these values

Brief Answer:
Malnutrition

Detailed Answer:
ok that is good but not done yet. Check for ketone bodies and serum electrolytes in the blood, if the ketones are high that means your body is still using fats for its energy requirements leading to more weight loss. Check the body fat now and after one more month. Generally it is easy for the body to use carbs for energy requirements if there is no carbs then it uses fat.
Calcium and Magnesium may be excreted out during low carb or no carb diet. If there is acidic environment that it is a reason for concern.
I still suggest to Probably meet a dietitian.

so its a matter of diet rather than something like tumors or cancers , i read that weight loss can be a sign of cancer

Brief Answer:
Weight loss and cancer

Detailed Answer:
Weight loss can be because of cancer as well.
Here you have more commoner and clear pointers like diabetes, drugs and diet related reasons more than cancer.
