What Could Cause Frequent Defecation After Every Meal Which Is Leading To Anxiety About One's Health?

Question: Hi, my mum had a loose motions on 27th March and by next morning we had to rush her to the hospital as she almost fainted. Reason given at the hospital was due to dehydration her sodium levels had dropped. Got discharged on 29th. She was ok but feeling week. Stools were back to normal a little more than usual but solid stool. She ate out again on 8th and 9th April and she started passing motions again - solid - but frequent BM and this time ter was slight mucous. Did her CBC and stool. CBC is normal but stool report shows mucus, OBT as attached. She is passing maybe 2-3 such small motions everytime she eats. She is currently on Rifalgut twice and Tab Placid for anxiety as she gets worried soon. Please let me know if the results look serious, is it something to be worried about, any tests to be done?

Hi,

From your description, there is possibility of bacterial infection and altered normal flora. Typhoid can cause blood in stools, so its a possibility. It can be ruled out by Typhidot blood test. Another possibility is some anatomical cause like diverticulitis, etc. An ultrasound of whole abdomen could help rule out any anatomical causes.

Most bleeds in git stop by themselves. GIT has good capacity to recover from mild infections. Antibiotics are indicated when blood is present in stool.

Apart from above, hygienic food and cleaner drinking water is must for her. Food must be properly cooked, preferably prepared at home. Food be taken at interval of at least 3-4 hrs at fixed times.
