Question : My wife wakes up with headaches. She takes Clonidine when her BP is over 160. She has chronic pain and uses Oxycontin 3x daily and Oxycodone when needed. She also takes Tizanidine 3+4x daily. She drinks one cup of coffee a day. Any suggestions?

There are many medical conditions that cause headaches in the morning.
One of the most common cause is high blood pressure.
As I see through your query, your wife is already taking medications for high blood pressure.
I suggest you to measure the blood pressure in the morning and in the evening to see how it changes.
Other examinations that should be done are:
- A blood count
- A urine test
- An electrocardiogram
- A cholesterol test
In this way the medication that she is already taking can be reconsidered by your cardiologist.
