Question: In the last week or so my left jaw has become progressively tighter, My face adjacent to the left jaw also feels numb. I have not had any incident of a strike to the face, this has happened without outside force. I don't have any tooth pain but it is very difficult to chew food. thanks

Brief Answer:
Looks like problem with the jaw joint.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Your symptoms are pointing towards problem with the jaw joint.

At times, even when there is no external injury, there can be injury to the jaw joint while accidentally opening the mouth too wide.

If you have teeth grinding or clenching habit, it can also cause the jaw joint related problem.

Therefore, my suggestion is to consult an oral physician and get evaluated.

A Panoramic X-ray should be done.

For now, do warm compresses over the cheek. Take muscle relaxants like Chlorzoxazone. Take soft meals. Avoid trying to open the mouth too wide forcefully. Avoid stress.

I wish you get better soon. I hope this helps.

I hope my condition is not heart related because I'll be dead before you respond. Your attention to my concern is very disappointing ,,,, a waste of $ 20 and I want my money back !!! Just like a waiting room where you have an appointment at 10 am but the doctor only sees you at 10:40. Nobody else's time matters but yours

Brief Answer:
No, the condition is not heart related.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Your condition is not heart related. In heart related problem, you also have other related symptoms like pain in arm, shoulder, chest discomfort and pain, sweating, shortness of breath etc.

Your symptoms do not appear to be related to a heart problem.

You should get a panoramic X-ray done for confirmation of the jaw joint related problem.
