Question : when she was much younger they said she was backed up and she was on Miralax for awhile.. and it seemed to improve for awhile.. or so i thought because, apparently, she's been having pain for quite some time (daily!) and just "puts up with it".. she's been suffering through it and i know that i need to have her tested but, until i can get her in for an appt, i'd like to know what some of the potential issues might be..
i have tried to gauge the kind of pain and intensity of the pain but, since it's not my body, it's just not easy to understand. today i gave her a scale with some things on it to which she cld relate to see where her pain is on the "everyday" as compared to when it's flaring up stronger (i.e. last night when she cldnt sleep):
okay let's discuss a scale of 1 to 10.....
1 = the dog steps on you
3 = you trip on the stairs
5 = you stub your toe
7 = you fall and skid across the gravel road
9 = XXXXXXX XXXXXXX and XXXXXXX burleson hit you with a pitch on the hip bone or hand (and it's cold out!)
10 = someone swings a bat like they're hitting a ball but hit you instead
her response to the "everyday" pain that she experiences is a 3-5 and the flare ups, like last night are 7-9 but mostly 7.
so on a daily basis she is feeling the pain of repeatedly stubbing her toe :( :(
any ideas on possible issues other than fiber? it seems that it's something more serious than just some extra fiber in the diet. many people don't have BMs everyday and it's not like she's going several days without one.. she goes almost every day.
thanks,

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound abdomen is required to identify the cause of pain
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Long-term use of Miralax is not advisable.
It's very important to consider ultrasound abdomen at the earliest to identify the cause of pain. Further management if any is largely based on test results. Meanwhile give her cleaner water to drink.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thank you.
