I am a 37 yr old mother. March 23 I went swimming in a pool in XXXXXXX and by March 25 I had severe pain up high in the vagina and cervix. I seen a doctor in the states and she put me on antibiotics for PID. I came home to Canada and still not feeling well and was diagnosed with UTI, bacteria feacalis. It took 3 rounds of antibiotics to kill it. Now I have intense vaginal pain, with puss on the cervix, very red and bleeds easily with little discharge. I’ve had the following tests done which all were negative urine culture , vaginal swabs for yeast, bacteria, as well as in internal ultrasound and routine blood work. I’ve been treated for bacterial vaginosis even though I tested negative for it. Right now I am on flucanzole even though I have tested negative for it. Any suggestions on what this could be?? Right now I have my period and it just stings so bad up in there ... please help.
Vaginal swab culture or cervical swab culture can help.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The persistent stinging and pain even after treatment with antibiotics is suggestive of a chronic inflammation in the area may be due to a persistent infection. You need a vaginal or cervical swab culture and a PAP smear done to find out the exact cause. Taking broad spectrum antibiotics without a culture report will not help.
Avoid using tampons as these can aggravate the inflammation. You can start with anti inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen to help with the symptoms till then.
I hope this answers your query.

I have had vaginal and cervical swabs done for bacteria , yeast and STD’s. All which show to be negative.
My doctor hasn’t done a PAP... I did have one done in January of this year that came in clean though. I will ask if he can do one.
Question - one doctor said I had a very bad yeast infection now as my symptoms are cervical puss, some discharge and very red and swollen. But my family doctor said yeast infections do not have puss. Can you have puss with a yeast infection ... as well keep in mind earlier in the week my yeast swab came back negative.
Thanks
Bacterial infection more likely.

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
A pus is commonly seen in bacterial infections. It is less likely to be associated with a yeast infection. Since you have a pus discharge present it is best to get a pus culture done to find out the infecting organism.
Hope my answer is helpful.

The last swab was done of the puss and still shows nothing.
All the swabs show is white blood cells but not bacteria.
What could it be an infection of then?
Thanks
Can be aseptic inflammation.
Detailed Answer:
In case the pus swab is not showing any bacteria then it is likely to be an aseptic inflammation. In such a case local steroid ointment can help.
Regards.
