What Could Cause Severe Right-sided Migraines With Temple Swelling And Eye Pressure, And Should I See A Doctor?

Question : Hello, I have a question about reoccurring migraines. No medicine touches them or helps when they are happening. Typically the migraine is on the right side of my head. When the migraine happens my forehead and temple areas noticeable swell. The swelling sometimes puts pressure on my eye and will cause my eye lid on that side to start shutting. The pain is intense and can lead to my eye hurting also. Sometimes you can fell throbbing in the temple region either with you hand or without. When I was 3 I had a heat stroke and was unconscious for 3 days with no medical treatment from doctors. My question is what could be causing these migraines and do they sound like something that should get checked out by a doctor? They don’t happen every day.

Hello,

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, the most likely diagnosis is migraine. For severe attacks of headache, you can take rizatriptan or naproxen tablets. In order to reduce the headaches in future, you can take Propranolol or Topiramate tablets.

You should also avoid the headache triggers such as exposure to sunlight, loud noise or pollution. You should eat on time and sleep well. Avoid stress and tension.

There are no known causes for migraine, and hence, they are referred to as "primary" headaches.
