Question : my wife had a echocardiogram of her heart last Monday and the tech kind of pushed hard against her breast and she has been sore in the area all week and has additional soreness when she take a deep breath , this week she played 18 holes of golf and tennis ? she is in generally good health 124 lbs 5/ft and 67 she is concerned if the test could have done something to her heart these systems did not exist prior to the test ? should we go to urgent care ?

Hello,
This is local soreness of the muscle probably because of extra pressure which has been applied during echo study.
This is a common occurrence and usually happens when echo window is not adequate and The Echocardiographer has to put a bit of extra pressure to get properly exposed cardiac image.
There is nothing to worry for and no need to go to ER as this discomfort will subside in couple of days but if she is getting troubled too much then she can take a simple pain killer once daily for 3 days.
