Posted on Tue, 23 Jan 2024
Question: My husband began shivering in church this morning. He said he was cold. His forehead was slightly warm. He has a headache and is nauseous. He has had a cough for two days since using the air conditioner. We came home and he went to bed for three hours. He is up now. Still feels nauseous and has a headache. He's not shaking visibly any more. His forehead is still warm. What do you recommend?

Brief Answer:
Possible viral infection

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

From what you are describing it seems like your husband may be starting with an infection and it is just the start of it, with just few symptoms.

The shivering it from fever maybe. Give him a tylonol or Ibuprofen so that will relieve his headache and also possible high fever.

He should drink plenty of water these days.

These symptoms will start getting worse and last for up to 3-5 days.
Feel free to update me with every change in severity of the symptoms and I will be happy to advise accordingly.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

The fever and headache are much reduced. But he now has a loose stool and a rash on his left leg, from the ankle to the knee. He is also becoming incontinent with urine.

Brief Answer:
Incontinent urine is not a common symptom.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Please upload a photo of the rash in his leg, so I can have a look at it.

To upload an image, simply click on the link to upload a file and follow the instructions. If this proves difficult, please send the image by mail to YYYY@YYYY and request that the image should be uploaded to your query.

The loose stool may be related with all the infection. He should try to drink plenty of water, small amounts and frequently.

The incontinent urine is not a common symptom and it is not related with the others. Did he had any problem with it before? If it continues, then your husband should go to your local doctor so they can examine him and understand why is he having this symptom which is uncommon.

I hope this is helpful.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako.
