Question: Hello, I am a 67 year old male in relatively good health. recently I took a part time job that requires quite a bit of walking on concrete floors. I come home with swollen upper ankles with the skin on my ankles blood red and the top of my feet also. never had this problem before. very painful. Takes days to heal , only to start the same process over when I return to work. Are you familiar with these symptoms?

Brief Answer:
Massage and keeping the feet elevated can help.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Walking on concrete floors can cause stress on the feet and can lead to pain and inflammation. Using shoes with soft sole and keeping the feet elevated while resting will help. Soaking the feet in warm water and gentle massage on the foot just after getting from the bed to improve the blood circulation will also help. In case the problem persists then anti inflammatory pain killers after a direct examination can help.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal
