What Could Cause What Looked Like Mosquito Bites To Turn Into Blisters That Blended Together To Become Large And Worse?

Question: Hi, Friday or Saturday I woke up with 2 - 3 hives. I actually thought they were mosquito bites as it isn't uncommon for me to wake up with those occasionally. However, it proceeded to get worse; where the hives have blended together. Mostly above waist, although they are now trying to cross the knee to shin border. Also feeling slight nausea. Went to my doctor today who prescribed prednisone and hydroxyzine orally. Have not taken yet as nausea has gotten increasingly bad. BS is over 300. I was told to get that under control before starting these new meds. Took Metformin and glyburide and almost immediately vomited. How can I get my BS lowered if I can't tolerate food or meds? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
YOu may need insulin.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

In my opinion your problem (the hives) very probably can be attributed to an allergic reaction.
Considering this prednisone +hydrolizine will help you to normalise the situation.

About your blood sugar ,i can say that you are under stress and your actual number (300 mg/dl )is high. This means that your diabetes, actually is not under control.
Prednisone can contribute even more to destabilize your diabetes.

In your circumstances, if you were my patient, I will suggest to try insulin injections for some time
Maybe a long-lasting analogue insulin like Ins Glargine 1 injection/24 hours.

Anyway i suggest to consult your treating doctor as soon as possible for the right treatment and the follow up of your Diabetes.

Hope this is helpful.
Regards
