Question: Hello, I went to the doctor last week because I was having severe stomach pain and back pain. They thought I was having a kidney infection because I had been urinating more often, but I had no fever although I did have nausea. They tested my urine and it came back positive for a kidney infection or so they thought. I went for a follow-up 2 Days Later and my doctor told me I did not have a kidney infection, she did not know what I had. They did not do a cat-scan when I first went in, but the second time I went in they did. They found I was constipated and told me to do three enemas. I did two enemas because the second time I did the enema I had a horrible reaction. After the second enema I was having severe stomach pain although I did go quite a fair amount of feces. My other symptoms were muscle cramping, nausea, (although I did not puke), severe pain in my anus, severe headache, and I felt anxiety. I usually do not feel anxiety I am normally a very calm person. Those were my symptoms 4 days ago, but now I am still constipated and worse than I was before. I have not gone poop for 4 days now and I am still constipated. I would have thought two enemas would have cleared me out, but I was still full of feces. They Told Me Not to Come Back in for another 6 weeks to continue every day after the enemas with Miralax with Miralax. I have tried every remedy for constipation. I have been drinking; I've tried exercising even though I am in severe pain. I do not know whether or not to go back into the doctor because first off, they have already misdiagnosed me twice, second, I am used to constipation because I would consider myself to have chronic constipation. But this time it is different I am having other symptoms. Today I looked in the back of my throat and I found a red sore there with a white patch in the middle. I did not know whether I have had a fever or not, but I am having other symptoms. I've been having extreme fatigue, stomach cramping, constipation, sore throat, nausea, and I am at my wit's end. My question is what do I do from here, and what do I have?

Brief Answer:
Several possible diagnoses

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It would be helpful if you gave info about age and sex and previous medical history.
But considering your symptoms, it would be necessary to do some other tests beside CT scan.
Of course, most common issues are irritable colon disease, or some functional or psychosomatic disorders and this is probably what your doctor thinks so he didnt send you to further tests.

But I believe that colonosopy must be done because there is no another way to check intraluminal part of large bowel.
Second, you should do feces occult test for bleeding, calprotectin in feces and tumor markers (CEA and CA 19-9). Also anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing may be eded.

I dont think that throat infection is related to your other symptoms, but this may be pharingitis due to viral or bacterial infection.

Miralax and enema are useful at some degree but it should not be taken for longer period since it may be contraeffective.
In addition, you need to increase fiber intake. Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans.

Also, you should exercise regularly. Moving your body will keep your bowels moving, too.

Second, you may at times need to try other laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia carbonated water, or glycerin suppositories.

Some more serious things such as Crohns disease, tumors or autoimmune diseases are less common but if symptoms persist and there is no improvement, then you should do more extensive work up.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
