                                            Question : Good morning,
I have a question about menstruation. My last period was XXXXXXX 29th and I tend to have irregular periods so the projected date could have been July 29th and I still haven't gotten my period. I do not take any birth control pills and I took a pregnancy test on August 4th. I used First Response and both tests came out negative. What could be causing the delay in my period and should I take another pregnancy test? Or would it have been detected since it was during my supposed period cycle? Thanks!

                                    Brief Answer:
test needs to be repeated
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion I suggest you to repeat the test after a week with first morning urine sample.
Usually the pregnancy test gives accurate results after a week of missed period. And the symptoms of pregnancy like nausea, vomitings, increased urination, sore breasts start usually at 6 weeks ie.,2 weeks after missed period.
If the test is negative even then the cause of irregular periods like thyroid abnormalities, polycystic ovarian disease(PCOD) ,stress, overweight or obesity might be ruled out.
Ultrasound helps in diagnosis of PCOD.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.
