What Do Discomfort And Tingling In The Legs And Hand Numbness Indicate?

Question: Dear Dr.

Thanks u very much for your email.

It's been 3 years since I m suffering from neurological problems. First I had carpel tunnel which was fixed by the splinters and then Dr. Ordered for MRI of the brain and it was conducted two times to eliminate the possibility of MS. Then some blood test reveal that I have high anti SSA positive but schrimer test of the eyes and biopsy of mouth eliminated the possibility of rhuemotied arthritis.

It was recently when I was advised to see neuro surgeon and he first ordered for neck x Ray which revealed everything was ok and later an MRI which suggested scoliosis to the left, loss of hyperintense t2 signal for all the discs suggestive of disc dessication and c4-5 mild foraminal protrusion indenting subarchanoid space to the left without and exiting nerve root compression. Later on a back MRI that revealed scoliosis concave to right and a suspection of spondylolysis.

Now the problems I have right now are slight discomfort in right leg, when I sit cross leg with one leg on the knee, I feel like a tingling in my foot and it triggers another thing and that is I feel for mucation all over my body. This is the case with both the legs. As for hands some time I feel little numbness in my hands specially to the right and when I lay down in such a way that my head rest on my arms I have a similar formication all over my body with the numbness in the hand

So far I have tried anti inflammatory meds

Brief Answer:
Nerves compression or a vascular disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for asking me directly.

Since your symptoms are triggered by certain legs positions ( crossing legs for example ) the problem is very unlikely to be located at your spinal cord.

It may be nerve compression or a peripheral vascular disease such arteritis, deep veins thrombosis, etc.

Further tests such nerves conduction study, Doppler ultrasound of your legs are necessary in order to understand better your condition.

Scoliosis may be a problem if it is found to compress nerves or spinal cord.

Same for the hand numbness, resting head may pressure the blood supply or nerves of the hand causing such symptoms.

Formication may indicate peripheral neuropathy, so, this condition should be considered too in your case.

Discuss with your Doctor about getting tested further.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Kind regards.
