What Do Dizziness And Muscle Weakness Indicate While On Meloxicam?

Question: I'll be 65 next month. I am experiencing dizziness and increasing muscle weakness. I had a physical this summer and all my labs are near perfect. I have recently had a bout with vertigo, and a therapist fixed me right up. My heart has been checked out and all is good. The only medication I take regularly is meloxicam for a bad knee.
Brief Answer:
Please provide more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Please let me know more about the dizziness and weakness. Is it lightheadedness or do you feel the surroundings swirl around you and you are unable to stand /walk steady. Is it a generalized weakness or is it specific to any particular group of muscles. Is there pain anywhere in the body? Do you have shortness of breath when you walk or do some physical activity?
I would able to let you know the different possiblities after getting your input.

This dizziness is more lightheadedness then swirling. I would say it feels like being intoxicated. Turning my head from left to right or moving my head side to side evokes some really strange sensations. The muscle weakness seems to be concentrated in my legs and ankles. I can walk, just not in a straight line. Walking on uneven surfaces is almost out of the question, and it seems like I losing my ability to gauge where i am putting my feet. Getting up and down off the floor requires a gargantuan effort and standing from a sitting position is beginning to become problematic. I do not have pain else where, except in the mornings i have pain in my hips and lower back, which goes away fairly quickly. I have a left knee that needs to be replaced, but, is being managed. I can make that knee hurt if i want to.

Welcome back,
From your description of symptoms, you seem to have a neurological problem mainly involving your gait and balance. This requires being investigated further with imaging studies like CT scan or MRI.
It would be good to have yourself examined by a doctor (preferably Neurologist) and then proceed accordingly.
Kind regards
Take care
