Question : My husband takes Lipitor 80 mg. per day. Daily he experiences periods of extreme discomfort caused by excessive itching and burning. The reaction at the greatest discomfort occurs during exercise and lasts for about 20-25 minutes. The EXTREME itching and burning occurs on the upper part of his body and legs and is like a million needles pricking the skin. Nothing relieves the situation except scratching and the passing of time. Also, three to five times every day he has periods of EXTREME itching and burning that lasts thirty seconds to a minute and a half. His cardiologist has had no remedy for it. Is there something XXXXXXX can do to suppress the reaction or overcome it?

Brief Answer:
Welcome back
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,
I would advise him to reduce the dosage of Lipitor. If his symptoms started with the use of Niaspan or Lipitor, the dosage reduction may relief symptoms.
His cholesterol level is not high and he can reduce dosage carefully and monitor the symptoms.
Hope I could help you
