Question : Hi. I had a blood test done. I'm 31 years old, male. My alkaline phosphatase levels are high (141). I have a history of alcohol abuse. Assuming that's the culprit, since I don't have any bone diseases or cancer, how hazardous is alcohol consumption to my health now? Will continued use likely result in liver disease?
Brief Answer:
Yes, continued use is highly discouraged!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your question.
I have reviewed your information fully and clearly, excess alcohol intake is probably responsible of your symptoms. I suggest that you strongly consider cutting back on your consumption. A glass of wine twice or thrice a week is okay and will not harm you but excessive intake would further damage your liver. You're too young and I strongly believe you can do it.
In all, scale down your alcohol consumption and keep it to not more than three glasses of wine a week.
I wish you well and feel free to follow up with me if need be.
Kind regards!
