Question : I have horizontal ridges on my toenails (maybe on my fingernails, too, but if so, they're not visible without staring very hard and very up close at my fingers). They are not super deep like pictures online, but there are a lot of them. On my fingers, I have no lunulas. What could be causing these issues?
Brief Answer:
Regarding horizontal ridges on nail plate
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Horizontal ridges on the nail plate are most commonly due to Beau's lines due to temporary growth arrest of nails as a result of illness. Sometimes, tight footwear can also lead to horizontal depressions in the nail plate.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I am a teacher who constantly has colds/flu (and even strep earlier this year!) because I am constantly surrounded by children who don't wash their hands or cover their mouths when they cough/sneeze. Is this enough to cause Beau's lines?
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Minor illnesses like cold/flu would not lead to Beau's lines. I request you to kindly upload a few images of the affected nails in "Reports Section" so that I am able to guide you better.
Hope I have answered your query.
