What Do Intermittent Pin-prick Sensation Near The Left Hip Indicate?

Question: Very good morning Dr. Rynne,

I am XXXXXXX from XXXXXXX (India).
Off late i have getting pin prick sensation near my left hip. It happens for a few seconds and stops. For the past 3-4 days, it has been happening . What could be the reason doctor. I am aged 53 years and work for an IT Corporate, in the capacity of Manager (IS Support). What could be the reason doctor ?

Hi,

Since the pin-prick sensation on your left hip just lasts for seconds and then stops, you may need to observe the same for some time-if it improves or worsens.

In the case, if it worsens further, you may need to undergo a MRI of Lumbar spine to see for any nerve root compression due to disc problem.

However, in that case, it would be better if you personally visit a Neurologist so that the investigations can be guided in a better way.

Meanwhile, please tell some details to that I can answer this well further-

2)Do Since when are you having these symptoms?

First time the symptoms appeared about a month ago. For the past 3 days, it has happened 3 - 5 times intermittently.
