What Do My CT Scan Test Results Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 May 2016
Question: Morning. Had a CT scan of lungs. Lungs were fine, but they found mild stable ectasia of the descending aorta, measuring 3.8 x 3.7 cm. Since I used to smoke for so long and I'm now 60, my primary care doctor said don't worry about it, comes with age. Not sure I should just ignore it without further testing. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. XXXXXXX ..

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic.

Well mild stable ectasia doesn't require any interventions presently , but there is always a risk of developing into aneurysm ( risk is less ) . Hence there is no need to do anything now ( apart from controlling blood pressure ) but you need to keep a monitor on the size by getting scan done every 6-8 months.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask.

Regards.
