What Do My MRI Scan Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Aug 2016
Question: I had a discectomy 7/15. It failed. I've since had 2 MRIs. Can you look at the MRI reports and tell me what they say? How bad is it?

I'm considering another surgery -- but am not asking your opinion about that. Just want to know what the MRI reports say in more plain english. http://bit.ly/2avD32q

Hi,

Welcome to HealthCareMagic.com I am Dr.J XXXXXXX Anto Bruno Mascarenhas, and I am here to help you. I have read your question with care and understand that you want to know what the MRI reports say in more plain english

The MRI Reports say that
1. You have undergone a Surgery at L5 Level. A piece of Bone covering your Spinal Cord (called Lamina) has been removed. A piece of disc has also been removed
2. A portion of disc is now pressing on your nerves (S1 Nerve Root)
3. Scar is present which is also pressing on your nerves
4. There are few degenerative changes. This also causes compression
5. There is reduction in space for the nerves also at the vertebra higher than the one which has been operated. This causes compression on the nerves at those level
