Diabetes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I can understand your concern.
For better opinion I want to know
- How many time your friend used to take Tab Metlead G2?
- How many time his doctor advised to take Tab Zomelis?
- What is his height, weight?
- Duration of diabetes.
- HbA1c level, if done.
Tab Metlead G2 contain Metformin 500mg & Glimepiride 2mg.
Tab Zomelis 50 contain Vildagliptin 50 mg.
- Metformin act by reducing insulin resistance.
- Glimepiride act by increasing insulin release by pancreas.
- Vildagliptin act by reducing insulin resistance and glucose dependent insulin release by pancreas.
Hope I have answered your question.

Diabetes.
Detailed Answer:
- Considering his recent onset of diabetes and present values of Fasting and PP blood glucose level, I may have suggested to increase the dose of metformin to 1.5 gram per day (in divided doses) along with with may have used any one of the followig-
1) Glimepiride 1mg once a day OR
2) Vildagliptin 50 mg (Tab Zomelis 50) once a day.
-With rechecking F & PP BSL after 4 to 6 weeks and then if possible will continue Tab Metformin only and stopping other one.
- Meformin is the first line drug used in the treatment of Type II diabetes unless contraindicated.
-Along with medicines regular exercise and strict diabetic diet are important in the treatment of diabetes.
Hope this helps your friend.
