Question : I had a colonoscopy on May the 15th the doctor who did the test was not the one to do the test but he worked with his partner of 30 years, After the colonoscopy the doctor said to me there was a large polyp and we removed it but he didn't want to make a hole in my colon, he said to make an appointment with the office which I did because that office is where my original doctor is. When I went there on may 29th the doctor said I had some abnormal cells. so I blurted out do I have to take chemo or some treatment, he draw a polyp and say it's like a mushroom. he then said pray to God not goes wrong, then out of the blue he said oh let's take another colonoscopy on july 7th, All that time I was home and no one from the office called me and said anything, the only time I got a call was to remind me of coming for the test. I did not wanted to go back to that doctor, so I called the doctor's office and I said I have a colonoscopy schedule for Tuesday the doctor secretary told me I am not schedule for one and she saw the doctor removed the polyp but she did not see the results of the pathologist. Anyway the doctor came on the phone and said the only reason I want you to go back for the test its because the polyp was large and he wants to see if all was removed which was strange tome but he asked me if I want to reschedule. I said no, to make a long story short. I had the 2nd colonoscopy the doctor took me to the back and said he saw some cancer cells and then he said to me you are a young healthy 51 year old not taking any medication for anything he said what we will have t do is go in take piece of your colon out and reattach it, I made another appointment with my doctor, he told all was fine the polyp was benign all was fine except for the polyp that has to be removed by a surgeon he said it's no emergency I came home feeling happy about the news, on Thursday my GP calls me and say he wants to talk to me the other doctor told him I have a high displysia intermocos adecarenomw which is cancer in the cells of the polyp I said this doctor never told me anything like this on the first colonoscopy he waited for the 2nd one to tell me this, so my doctor recommended a surgeon to me. I don't know whats going on because both doctors give me different answers

Brief Answer:
I will say follow up with the surgeon and get the following....

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this long and disturbing experience that you have. What i take from your story is the fact that you have a polyp. Polyps can be benign or malignant. When a polyp is removed, it is sent to the pathologist to identify if there are any abnormal/cancerous cells. It is only after this report is obtained that your doctor can boldly say you do not have to get concerned about the polyp. Any rush in saying so before getting the results show poor practice.

That said, I will suggest you ask for the following: What does my pathology report says? If the answer is cancerous cells, please accept to go in for surgery as it is a game changer. If the results are not conclusive, request for a new colonoscopy, get a biopsy and act on the results.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

I am married to a Ghanian 15 years ago, 2 children my surgery is July 31st and if you are familiar with Downstate hospital it will be done there. How long is the surgery for removal of colon and reattaching it. I hope I don't have to use a bag, If it's temporary it's alright but not life long. Where in XXXXXXX are you from

Brief Answer:
Am a Cameroonian!

Detailed Answer:
HI,

Glad to hear you are married to a Ghanian. I wish you a very safe procedure. It often takes about 3-4hours for most surgeries. However, the duration greatly varies depending on the experience of the surgeon. Using a bag after surgery is not typical unless something else comes up. It is rarely used.

I wish you well. Keep me posted. Hi to your lovely husband.

I dated a Cameroonian in England his name is XXXXXXX but it didn't work out he is a lawyer (business law) I didn't think the surgery will take that long after the surgery will cancer occurs again or do I have to take colonoscopies more often than others. My doctor said after I have the surgery see him in 5 years but I think I will do it sooner. The uterine cancer was in the early stage also. I have no other medical condition except for this I guess in this life you have to have something no matter how you try to eat right, exercise etc. Have no family with cancer so I am the first. When I was younger I had an abortion and never took a DNC so I don't know if that is the case with me now that's why I am going thru all this. Anyway whenever you come to NY drop by.

Brief Answer:
I will keep you posted!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The world seems to be a very small place. I will not hesitate to stop by when I get to NY. The lack of DNC is not a cause for this.

Keep me posted about your surgery.

I guess the friboid tumors was the cause because I had 2 tumors one 9 cm and the other 5 cm so I don't know what happens to women why we get these things. None of my family had cancer none that I know off. Luckily the doctor told me that this is in the early stages so I am happy for that. Keep me in your prayers. I live in XXXXXXX and I am from Trinidad and Tobago.
