Question : I had a urinalysis test along with other blood work during a prenatal, I am 11 weeks. The results were as follows: SPECIFIC GRAVITY, URINE 1.019; BLOOD, URINE 1+; PROTEIN TOTAL QUALITATIVE URINE Trace; LEUKOCYTE ESTERASE, URINE 3+; SQUAMOUS EPITHELIAL, URINE 20-27 cells/hpf; WHITE BLOOD CELLS, URINE >60 cells/hpf; BACTERIA Many(>50) /hpf; RED BLOOD CELLLS, URINE; CALCIUM OXALATE CRYSTALS identified. Previously my test results showed I am slightly anemic. Do I have a UTI? I have back pains but I am pregnant so it is hard to tell. What should I do?
Thank you!
Thank you!
Brief Answer:
sounds like uti
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
Ordinarily that would look like uti.
Specially in the presence of the pus cells.
However in pregnancy, some of these changes can occur normally.
Still its also showing bacteria.
Therefore possibility of uti has to be considered.
In pregnancy, antibiotics are often not safe.
Therefore instead of taking antibiotics blindly, I suggest get a urine culture tested and take antibiotics as per seport.
Meanwhile take cranberry juice and check your sugar levels as well.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
Best of luck.
