Question : Hello Doctor,
I am 30 years old in the 27th week of my pregnancy (through IUI) and also have PCOS and have a BMI over 31. During my anamoly scan the doctor detected increased uterine PI of 1.67 and suggested a follow up scan after taking 75mg of Ecospirin daily for three weeks. In the follow up scan the following is the report synopsis:
No pericardial effusion.
Ductus venosus flow pattern appear normal.
Umbilical artery flow appear normal, PI-1.24.
Uterine arteries, mean PI:1.60 (Increased).
Decreased Liquor, AFI-10.
IMPRESSION --
FETAL ECHO-CARDIOGRAPHY --
- NO SIGNIFICANT ABNORMALITIES DETECTED.
- DECREASED LIQUOR NOTED.
- INCREASED PI OF UTERINE ARTERIES.
- UMBILICAL ARTERY, END DIASTOLIC FLOW NOTED.
*RECOMMEND FOLLOW-UP SCAN AFTER 2-3 WEEKS.
I have been asked to continue taking ecospirin 75 mg daily along with ARG-9 powder everyday. I also have gestational diabetes that was detected during my 12th week of pregnancy, but I am on 500mg of Metformin (twice daily) and diet restrictions along with mild exercise post meal to keep my sugar levels under control. It is two weeks from the previous scan now.
I want to know if the line of treatment suggested by my doctor would suffice to improve my amniotic fluid levels and blood circulation to fetus so as to prevent pre-eclampsia or would you suggest any other tests to be done to be on the safer side?
Also I need to travel to a near by city on work by train and the journey would take a couple of hours. Would it be safe to travel with my kind of reports?
