Question: Hi, I am a 26 year old girl. I am facing menstrual problems. Normally I used to have 6-7 days menstrual fluid discharge at regular intervals. But from past 3-4 months my menstrual fluid discharge has reduced significantly. This month I had discharge for only 2 days. My doctor is unable to understand the problem. Below are the results of few tests:
FSh: 7.09, LH: 5.59 (done on second day of the period)
Hb: 13.1
Thyroid,Prolactlin,Sugar : Normal
Could you please let me know the possible reasons for this?

Brief Answer:
Cause needs to be ascertained

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Scanty flow or reduced duration of flow during the periods can be due to various reasons like hormonal disturbances, tuberculosis of the uterine lining or sometimes, the the flow reduces normallyas the age advances.
Since your hormonal investigations are normal, therefore the hormonal causes are ruled out.
I will suggest you to get tuberculosis ruled out by Chest X Ray, Mantoux test and ultrasound of the abdomen.
If tuberculosis us also ruled out, then the reduction in flow is normal and physiological, with no ill effects on the body.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thank you for your reply.

Usually my periods lat for 5 days...6th day a slight brownish discharge or none at all. But for past three months this is not the case. I am about to get married and I am quite tensed about my health.

My cycle generally is of 28-30 days. I make sure I walk for 30min atleast 5 days a week.

for the past two months I am also suffering from allergy, early morning I sneeze a lot and have watery eyes. Does this has anything to do with it.

Last month I didn't have discharge on 3rd and 4th day but a slight discharge on the 5th day.
Also I can feel that it is there inside me on 3rd and 4th day but not coming out and is not even present in urine. When I clean using toilet paper, I can see slight reddish on it.

Also my doctor has recommended ultrasound and he told me FSH:LH should be 2:1 and said mine is less than that but I am reading from various sources, I didn't find anything regarding this ratio.

Brief Answer:
Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
There is no relation between early morning sneezing and watery eyes and the decreased flow of menstrual blood. The early morning symptoms are likely due to allergy.
There is no ratio as you mentioned, and the individual values are normal in your case.
Exercise can lead to hormonal changes and decrease the flow of blood in periods.
I suggest you to not to worry till your cycles are regular, as regular cycles indicate normal hormonal status of the body.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
