Question : I went to the er for an unrelated cause about a month ago. They did blood and urine tests on me. Doctor said everything was ok and sent me home. I noticed looking at the CBC results, the Percent Lymphs was 17.1%. Is this a cause for concern? Just checked Absolute Lymphs and it is 1.4.WBC is 8.4
RBC is 5.97
Hemoglobin 17.7
Platelet 334

Brief Answer:
NO, there is nothing to be worried about!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for contacting healthcare magic.

I have reviewed your lab results and this is fine. Overall, the counts are good and the lymphocytes alone do not represent any danger. There is nothing you should be worried about at this time. I will not even recommend that you get it controlled because they are well within normal limits.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me. Keep me posted about your worries and I will always gladly address them.

Thank you very much. I just read somewhere that the 17.1 was abnormal. Is a Calcium level of 9.8 abnormal? Total Protein was 8.4.

Protein is borderline high....Everything else is okay!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed both reports. But for the slightly above normal proteins, everything is fine. Placing it in context with all other aspects of the results findings, there us absolutely nothing that should keep you worried. All is fine.

I wish you well and stay well. Let me know if this answers all your worries. Do not hesiatte if you still have any lingering.

Is there any cause for this high protein? What would cause this?

Brief Answer:
There is no cause!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is more of a laboratory variation and not real. The other parts are normal and therefore do not point to any specific problem.

I wish you well and do not even get bothered by this. If you really want to be sure, we can repeat this test right away and you would see the difference.

Sorry for the concern. I was reading online and it pointed to forms of Lymphoma so I panicked. I'm guessing other results in the CBC would reflect that if it were the case? Are you still getting my follow ups?

Brief Answer:
Other findings would have made us think of lymphoma, but none!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The WBC alone and proteins cannot raise a possible concern for lymphomas. There is really nothing to make that a possible explanation for these minor variations.

I wish you well. Keep me posted.

One last follow up, Doctor. So you are saying the level would have to be extremely abnormal to be cause for alarm? Minor variations don't show such a thing..? It has to be a big number.

Brief Answer:
THese findings are quasi normal!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your findings are almost normal and I will not even label them abnormal. You have nothing to be afraid of at this time. They are normal variations from the laboratory and a repeat would definitely uncover this. However, am not for a repeat because it wouldn't provide additional useful information that we don't already know at this time.

Best wishes and hope you are now more reassured and feel safe.
