Question : Had ultrasound showed thickened endometrium to 8 mm. Post menopause. No bleeding.
Do I need an endometrial biopsy? If Doctor does one what can I do to minimize the pain?

Brief Answer:
yes you should undertake endometrial biopsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
In a post menopausal age group, the endometrial thickness should be less than 3 mm and any thickness more than 3mm should be investigated for endometrial hyperplasia with or without atypia/ endometrial cancer. Endometrial biopsy is the next step for evaluation and should be undertaken.
you may opt for a biopsy with PIPELLE or office endometrial biopsy curette , which is usually pain free. You can ask your gynecologist for performing this procedure and its way simpler than a curettage under anaesthesia.
