What Do My Urine Analysis Test Results Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 21 Apr 2016
Question: My daughter who is one year old has fever of 101, we did a routine urine analysis and the reading says that the rbc and wbc is occasional in the sample. Our pediatrician had asked us to check if the puss cells are more than 10. What does the ocassional wbc and rbc reading mean ? Is there an infection she is suffering from or is this normal cough and cold related fever

Brief Answer:
Give paracetamol and tepid sponging for fever

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have carefully gone through your query. RBC in urine is not normal but since the pus cell count is not elevated I would assume it to be due to some minor leakage if the filtering membrane of the kidneys and not a cause for concern. Consider occasional WBC normal. Cough and cold are unrelated to the urinary findings and are due to a viral infection which is likely to be the cause of fever. Usually such infections last for 5-7 days.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
