Question : Hi, I'm 53 in generally good health but a little overweight. For the past few years, I have occasionally noticed a tiny black speck in my urine. Seems to happen if I get dehydrated, but I'm not positive of that correlation. It's very infrequent... maybe once a week I'll notice one. Sometimes I'll go weeks without noticing any. And like I mentioned, it's been going on for years with no real change in frequency. I have no other symptoms. I mentioned this to my doctor and he had a urinalysis done today (the test name started with a 'C', might have been a CAST test but not positive) and it came back negative. Any idea of what this might be or if there is any cause for concern? My doctor didn't seem to think there was any cause for concern, but he wasn't sure what the specks were.
Brief Answer:
I don't see it as a concern either....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through your post with diligence and understand you are disturbed by those black speck. However they occur infrequently. Perhaps those are benign cells or urinary sediments and definitely do not sound concerning. Further normal urine examination report is a positive evidence.
It's difficult to comment about the precise cause/reason as none of the known organic urinary / kidney problem presents with infrequent tiny black speck. If it continues to bother you, I will suggest to collect a sample and get it tested again.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more information.
