What Do Redness And Soreness Around The Eyes Indicate?

Question: Hi,
My wife has a problem that has been going on for several weeks. It concerns the red rash & soreness that occurs around both eyes. Photo attached.
She has not changed her use of any makeup or cleansing routine so we do not think that is the issue.
Her eyes have always watered a lot and sometimes the redness extends down her face where the tears have run.
She has used various gels and hydrocortisone ointments but nothing seems to work for long.
Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Eye lid dermatitis most probably
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read history and saw the photo..then I could conclude that most probably your wife may be having eye lid dermatitis. It may be due to some allergen like... XXXXXXX eye liner, eye lid cream, pollen, soap...etc
Kindly consult the dermatologist for the exact diagnosis and proper treatment.
I would suggest...
- oral steroid in a tapering dose
- antihistaminics (eg. Cetirizine 10mg once daily at bedtime for the time being)
- apply tacrolimus ointment. 0.01%
- avoid contact with the suspected allergen
I hope this might help her. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
