Question: Black spots (dots) appearing on the body. Firstly noticed on groin area and foreskin (6-7 in numbers), then on both hands (1 on each side it appear like a dot . ) and also on forearms 2-3 on both sides. a very little growth like projection below underarm (only one) and on buttock (only one). Earlier noticed very itchy near groin area but on the application of coconut oil it goes off. Also applied anti-fungal cream. I am worried about it. From past 3-4 days i feel as if my hands are itchy. Itching also noticed on hips. what kind of disease it is and what should i do.

My Details:

Brief Answer:
These are harmless hyperpigmentations. Not a cause of concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the description as well as the attached images. They seem to be simple hyperpigmentations and not a cause of concern. I can assure you that these are not malignant melanoma or something to be worried about. Nothing needs to be done about these.

In case of itchiness, associated fungal infection is likely and application of clotrimazole powder or lotion should help. You may take some antiallergic like cetirizine for a few days. Nothing else needs to be done.

Regards

Many thanks for valuable comments. Sir, could you please recommend me some laboratory test to rule out any other infection (like bacterial, fungal or STD). I am newly married and I want to make it sure that I am disease free and also to confirm that neither i have any infection nor the carrier for any pathogens. (my wife got fungal infection and is under treatment, and i wish to clarify/confirm if it happened due to me or isit a common problem she is suffering from?)

Brief Answer:
I do not think that any test is required

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I can assure you that it is not due to some bacterial or fungal infection. I do not think that any test is required but if you want the only test that could be felt worth delivering conclusive results is a skin biopsy. Unless there is proper justification I do not think it to be required.
In case of a fungal infection, rather than going for a test, applying candid (clotrimazole) lotion and seeing if it responds, is perhaps a better idea.

Many thanks for valuable advice.

When will this hyperpigmentation process cease or stop, any precaution that you would like to tell me? Any other thing I need to monitor or observe in coming days/ months regarding this problem?

Brief Answer:
Just keep the area clean and dry.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

The appearance of these hyper pigmentations is not predictable and there is no specific intervention or precaution to stop these. No specific monitoring is required. Just keep the area clean and dry.
