Question : I have a small lump that has appeared at the base of my skull on the left side that is quite painful. the area around it is slightly swollen. There is no reason for this to be here. What could this be?

I read your symptom and we will find a solution.
The lump that you describe might be a cist sebacea or a lipoma (fat accumulation)
In boath cases it is nothing to be worried. with a small incizion those can be removed.
So you need to consult a surgeon for this problem to do a physical exam and if needed remove the lump.
