Hello Doctor,
Doctor my breathing has not been improved at all and it's been really bugging me when you have that constant feeling of needing to take a deep breath, so I have to gasp for air and majority of the time it gets cuts off which leads me to yawning for the air and that leads me to having a tight throat and my muscles in my rib cage and back muscles start to hurt cause I think I'm over expanding my lungs to.to . try and get those satisfying breaths. I know it sounds like I'm hyperventilating but im not docto.

Yes doctor I have undergone a recent pulmonary function test but that was on the date 6/27/16 and I did share that with you on our previous post but if you want I can post it again for you so please advise me if you would want that.

My values from the first pulmomary function test was
Fev1: 4.33
Fvc: 4.94
Fev1/Fvc: 88%

Doctor I did have another PFT test about 2-3 months ago at a different facility with my Fev1/Fvc 86%. He told me that it was of no concern and told me not to worry.

I have been under a loads of stress lately with the chance of me losing my job due to the possibility of not passing an upcoming test. I dislike my job and want to get out cause being a firefighter I'm worried about all the chemicals and worries constantly about developing copd. I'm planning on starting nursing school these semester coming up and that's more stress cause I want to get the degree to move out of XXXXXXX and start my nursing career and I'm 2e year still living at home so yes I'm under a tremendous amount of stress but I'm not sure of that is the cause of my breathing issue cause when this first started I wasn't that stressed out at all and it's been constant all day everyday..

The problem is how can this be related to stress when my breathing is what is causing my stress. Everyday waking up this is worrying me cause I feel like I have COPD and I'm on Google constantly trying to find a reason as to why it's not COPD. Is there any home spirometry I can buy to test my lungs without having to go to the doctor for a PFT.

Brief Answer:
You can buy peak flo meter.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
It's vicious cycle. Slight stress causes mild breathing difficulty which lead તો more stress in you and resulting in more breathing difficulty and thinking about COPD.
So you need to stop this cycle by avoiding too much thoughts about COPD.
And yes, you should can use peak flo meter.
It is handy instrument which measures Peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR). PEFR is rough estimate of FEV1.
You can monitor PEFR regularly. It is ideal फॉर home monitoring.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Do you have any recommendations as to which one to buy? Does it spit out the percentages for Fev1/Fvc?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Drkaushal85 (23 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
I will give only PEFR.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
It is handy instrument. It will give only PEFR.
It will not give FEV1, FVC originally ratio.
PEFR is another parameter in PFT. It is not exactly same as FEV1 but both are more or less same in terms of monitoring.
You can search 'peak flo meter' on google to get an idea about it.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

This is interesting information.
Sometimes chronic mould exposure can be cause pulmonary fibrosis. And instead early in stages of pulmonary fibrosis, chest x ray and PFT can be normal.
HRCT (high resolution CT) thorax would be needed to pick up early fibrosis.
So please let me know if you had CT scan of thorax done or not.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
