Question : Hi,

I'm a 35 year old female. Recently received my yearly blood work results and I'm concerned. My follow up appt isn't for another 3 weeks. The only complaint I have is frequent urination. I have no signs of infection... fever, trouble or pain urinating, dark urine, urine odor, etc. Despite this, my results are as follows:

All reflect outside of normal range

Lymph absolute: 3.3
Eos absolute: 0.7
Platelets: 425

Urinalysis:
Occult blood: +1

Urine microscopic:
RBC: 11-30

What could be the underlying issue causing these results? My blood work last year was normal.

Drink plenty of water. A course of antibiotics might be needed

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and have checked the attached reports. The presence of red blood cells in urine concerns me. This could be either due to an urinary tract infection or a kidney problem. As of now I would not like to suspect the latter. In such a case it is better to get a course of antibiotics like ofloxacin. These are prescription medicines and so you would need to get them prescribed by your doctor. You also need to drink plenty of water. It will help in flushing out an infection, if present. Besides, the specific gravity of the urine is raised and that indicates that the urine is concentrated thus calling for increased water intake.

Thank Dr. I drink a lot of water as it is but will drink more. I'll also go to urgent care today to get treated for UTI since my doctor can not see me for three weeks. I don't think I should wait. The constant need to urinate is very bothersome. Appreciate your response and assistance.
