10 yrs ago I do have what I call gall bladder pain after eating certain foods which has been present through out maybe once a month or every 2 months this has not changed and usually settles with omeprazole.
I had gastric band in 2012 with no problems
No dark urine or pale stools
I had blood test because of a lymph node that came up in my neck right side this has been scanned and reduced in size 2x4mm with no suspicious appearance this happened 8 weeks ago and I can feel it still. FBc WBC etc done on 7/9 where all normal
I have taken 4 courses of amoxicillin 1 course of pen v and ibrufen 400mgs 2-3 times daily over past 6 weeks to try get rid of swollen lymph node. ( only 2 courses were prescribed sorry )
Please can you help I have appointment with liver specialist on Thursday but cannot rest for worrying
I do not have any abdo pain weight loss jaundice and feel quite well apart from worry
Thank you

Incidentally I have has sore throat and cold for almost 4 weeks now

Could lymph node have any connection to problem
Why would Ggt increase so much could it be medication I have taken

Brief Answer:
Lymph node or medications are unlikely to be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your query on healthcare magic.
After having gone through your query and the uploaded result of lymph node scan done on 20/09/2016, I am of the opinion that neither lymph node nor the prescribed medications are responsible for the high GGT and Alkaline phosphatase levels.

Usually GGT levels return to the normal levels 2-6 weeks after total abstinence from alcohol or alcohol containing beverages.

Persistently high levels of these liver enzymes could be due to some underlying liver problem.
So, you need to be evaluated by a hepatologist or gastroenterologist to rule out liver diseases like fatty liver, hepatitis or cirrhosis.

Hope this answers your query. However if you have any follow up query, kindly send it.

Best regards.

If medication has not caused sudden increase in ggt. Why else would this increase so high this has got me really worried. I'm seeing liver spec tomorrow and know I will need scan to get proper diagnosis but I don't feel unwell or have any other liver symptoms that I have read about.

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of some liver problem.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply, noted its contents.
Due to my busy schedule I could not reply it immediately.

Increasing levels of GGT and Alkaline phosphatase usually reflect some underlying liver problems such as fatty liver, hepatitis or cirrhosis.

Even though you have stopped taking alcohol, its toxic effects may persist for quite some time after total abstinence.

An abdominal ultrasound will definitely help in ruling out such problems.

Hope this will help.
Best wishes.
