Question : I got a blood test because of feeling very fatigued the past 4 months or so.
Most of the results were within normal range except for some white blood cell counts.
These:
Segmented neurophils 36.5% - low
Lymphoctyes 50.3% - elevated
Eusinophils 6.5% - elevated
Can there be any reason for this that I should be concerned about? Should I follow up with this with my doctor or ask for more tests to be done?

Brief Answer:
if the total white cell is normal, no area of concern

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned with a family history of cancer but if the total white cell count was normal there is no reason for concern.

The neutrophils, lymphocyts and eosinophils are types of white blood cells.

Normally a report would have the total white cell count then show the break down of the different types of white blood cells present.

You would notice that the amounts should roughly add to 100%.

The lymphocytes generally may go up in a viral infection, as they increase the neutrophils would slightly decrease.

Eosinophils go up in a person with allergies or in some persons who may have parasitic infections, allergies most common.

If you have any allergies eg sinus congestion, allergic rash, this would cause an increase.

The changes of the break down part of the white cell count are important but if there was an infection or cancer present, the total white cell count would altered.

The break down is used along with the total white cell count and not on its own

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
