Question: Yes, I have struggle with high blood pressure over the past month. During the day my blood pressure is slightly above normal (135/85) however at night I wake up a couple of hours after sleeping and my heart is racing and my blood pressure rises to 154/96 with a pulse rate of 90. My blood pressure during the day today was 140/76 with a pulse of 70 BPM and just before I went to bed my blood prressure was 118 / 80 with a pulse of 60. Why does my blood pressure go up when I sleep? I drank more than 16 ounces of water before I went to bed and I woke up thirsty and just drank 16 ounces water

Brief Answer:
avoid salt intake and need treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome at HCM
I have gone through your query and being your physician I appreciate your health concerns.
As far as your BP reading is concerned , it is above the normal range. You really need to be treated. Target BP reading should be less than 130/90mm Hg.
Your echo report shows heart in good condition but there is left ventricular hypertrophy which is due to high BP.which means you really should need treatment.
If I am your attending physician I will do your baseline ECG along with renal function tests. After this I will start you on drug like diuretics like zestril or losartan etc. I will make chart of your BP reading and will adjust the dose of drug.
Meanwhile stay calm and avoid salt in your diet and continue With your routine chores.
Hope it helps and feel free to ask anytime.
