What Do These LFT Results Indicate?
Question: My wife is 36+ weeks pregnant. She has moderate, sometimes severe, itching since about 30 weeks of pregnancy. Itching is mostly on hands, feet and tummy. Her gynaecologist said it could be due to hormones. Based on another opinion we got an LFT done when she was 36 weeks. SGOT is 37 and SGPT is 23. Does this indicate obstetric cholestasis?

In my opinion your history and LFT results does not go in favour of obstetric cholestasis(OC) as the LFT is normal.
OC is a condition where in there is itching all over the body,nausea and vomiting.The AST ,ALT ,serum bilirubin levels will be elevated.
The itching in your case can be attributed to circulating estrogen hormone.This is commonly found in many pregnant woman.This is mostly in last trimester of pregnancy.
It will subside spontaneously.Apply moisturizer all over the body twice daily to prevent dry skin.Because dry skin might also favour itching.
So relax.Nothing to worry.
