Question: I am 41 male. Am a veteran. Had 2 mri's on lower back. They state i have disc dessication, schmorls node formation, hyperopathy of epidural fat, degen. Disc disease, swelling at the end plates of l4 l5 s1 s2. Bulging discs. Multilevel lumbar spondyosis, severe neural foraminal central canal stenosis. I suffer from this since 2010. I have tried therapy, massage, accupuncture, loosing weight. The va had me on phetanal pathces, quit them. They had me on ms contin 30 mg / 4 day. Quit those too. My pain is never in the same spot. It radiates down my legs. Shoots out my groin. Hands and feet go so numb. My hips hurt like hell. Cant pee right or i will just start peeing in bed or in my truck. It is awful. The VA says for me to get epidural steroid injections. These are not fda approved and cause forther damage of structural bone weakening like osteoperosis in the low back and hips. I function best on a 10/325 pain pill 4 times a day. I can function and dont feel snowed out like the morphine did and those patches did. Help me.

Brief Answer:
Surgical correction is mandatory in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I can certainly understand your concern.

Many of your symptoms are directly related to Severe foramina stenosis and disc bulges at L4/L5 and S1/S2.

Epidural steroids are known to cause more harm than good.

The best management that can be offered to you is a surgical correction.

Laminectomy with or without discectomy is the procedure of choice in your case to drastically improve your symptoms.

Consultation with an expert Neurosurgeon will help.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
