Posted on Mon, 23 Nov 2015
Question: I am 36 yr old with a mild lumbar levoscoliosis as per attached reports.

Is this something i should worry about for being progressive ? I feel no symptoms or pain and i am an active healthy person.

Is this something that will likely give me trouble in the future ? Thanks for your informative feedback ..

Brief Answer:
Your findings are not serious,so you shouldn't worry at all.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Main findings is mild lumbar levoscoliosis. It is deviation of lumber spine towards left side from midline.
Generally cobb's angle less than 20 degree doesn't progress in mature adults.
Generally it doesn't need any treatment except observation.
However,it need clinical correlation and patient may need conservative treatment in the form of exercise, brace etc depending upon symptoms and clinical findings.
You may only need follow up X-rays to see its progression etc.

Findings also suggests mild degenerative changes in lumbo-sacral spine.
Degenerative changes are generally age related findings. It is due to chronic stress on annulus fibrosis.

At L2-3 level, there is mildly decreased intervertebral disc space.
Majority of degenerative disc disease patients are benefited by conservative treatment in the form of physiotherapy, analgesics and muscle relaxants.
Physiotherapy helps in strengthening of paraspinal muscles and it prevents further changes.

Though you don't have any symptoms,I suggest for physiotherapy only.It is good for over all health.

Your findings are not serious,so you shouldn't worry at all.
Most likely it will not progress.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query.

Brief Answer:
You may need follow up X-rays after two years.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Sorry for replying late

It is good that you are physically active. You should continue it.You can continue push-ups.
I suggest to consult physiotherapist. You may need certain back exercises. It will strengthen your back muscles.

You may need follow up X-rays after two years.
Though degenerative disc disease are seen in older patients but it may be seen early also.

You can continue other exercises but important is strengthening of back muscles.Back muscle exercises should be initially done under guidance of physiotherapist,so I advised for it.

You can continue osteocare and fish oil.Nothing extra is required.

Get well soon.
