Brief Answer:
its BAC most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Alcohol levels in liver aren't estimated in any hospital lab, as the liver is where metabolites of the liver are formed and alcohol is somewhat detoxified.

I think you may be referring to Blood alcohol content which is usually expressed as a percentage of alcohol in blood in units of mass of alcohol per volume of blood , and its legality is determined by different states differently in terms of what a legal limit for BAC is. It could have been 0.07 % and a different scale would have interpreted it as a score which is quite high. In USA most states if not all impose penalties for driving with a BAC of 0.08% or greater.

Early stages of alcohol induced liver injury can be completely reversible once you abstain. Get your Liver function tests and an Ultrasound done to see if any insult to the liver has occurred or not, in consult with your doctor.

wishing you best of health

Thank you for that but I should have given you more information it is the CDT level (carbohydrate deficient transferrin) that is 0.72. This was after a blood test sent to XXXXXHospital for analysis. What does this mean?

Brief Answer:
CDT a marker for alcohol abuse

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Chronic alcoholism can causes changes in the glycosylation pattern of transferrin. CDT use as marker for chronic alcohol abuse in conjunction with other tests can give an accurate diagnosis in up to 90 % cases. CDT can normalize within months of abstinence from alcohol use. There are other causes of abnormal CDT levels, which include congenital disorders of glycosylation and various genetic and non-genetic causes of acute or chronic liver disease.

Gamma-glutamyltransferase, mean corpuscular volume and patient history in addition to CDT can contribute to an accurate assessment, as CDT alone is not recommended as a screening tool.0.72 is a high reading and indicates a high alcohol intake , get the adjunct test done in case the finding is not persistent with your history

A normal CDT reading is, less than or = 0.10.

Let me know if you have any query

thanks
