Brief Answer:
Possibility of bronchitis is more in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Prominent bronchovascular markings (Prominent BVM) on chest x ray are classical finding of bronchitis.
And it is common in active as well as past smokers.
So your shortness of breath is mostly due to bronchitis.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. PFT (pulmonary function test).
PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.
Please let me know
1. Do you have breathlessness on exertion?
2. Do you have breathlessness on rest or with minimal exertion?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I can understand your concern.

Answer to your 1st question.

No, this report is not absolutely normal. It shows small Airway obstruction. This is seen in early COPD. So you are not having very severe disease.

Answer to your 2nd question.

You will need at least 3-4 months treatment with inhaled bronchodilator and inhaled corticosteroids. Get done repeat PFT after 3 months and decide about future treatment prolongation.

Answer to your 3rd question.

You need to take at least 3 months of treatment.

Answer to your 4th question.

In my opinion, you should start inhaled bronchodilator (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).

Please let me know
1. Have you ever consulted pulmonologist?
2. Are you taking any drug for this breathlessness?
