Question : I am 41 years old, in the last few months i noticed a few odd bruises. Last night I took my garbage can to the curb and this was enough to bruise my palm. Few months ago I had an unexplained bruise on my torso, and weeks before that on my arm. I have no other symptoms. Is this cause for concern for my age?

To recapitulate: Female/41 - few odd bruises noted in last few months - taking garbage can to the curb caused bruising of the palm - bruise on torso and arm in the past - no there symptoms - wants to know whether this is cause of concern for your age....

Please elaborate on a few points:
- Are your menstrual periods normal in recent times or have been heavy or so?
- Are taking any medications or hormonal pills?
- Any Ayurvedic preparations?
- Any jaundice recently.

The reasons can be increased fragility of the capillaries.
Reduced platelet counts.
Or some coagulopathy.

I would advise you to consult a Hematologist so that a proper clinical evaluation, investigations can be done, a proper probable diagnosis made to have targeted treatment.
