Brief Answer: please see below Detailed Answer: Dear Sir BNP or brain natriuretic peptide is a protein which is released from Ventricles (pumping chamber of heart) in response to increased pressure within them. this is useful in ruling out acute heart failure as a cause of patient's symptoms in emergency setting. It can not be used to confirm the presence of acute heart failure because of lack of specificity. For exact interpretation I request you to tell the units of this measurement too. Otherwise we use pg/ ml as unit for BNP and levels <100 are considered not suggestive of heart failure, while values more than 500 are likely to be associated with heart failure (in individuals with normal kidney functions). Hope this provides some insight. Feel Free to discuss further. Sincerely Sukhvinder
