Question : My 28 year old son has a GGT of 142 No drinking , Hepatitis, meds or illnesses. Has had elevated enzymes for past few years. Had unltrsound and found a hemangioma but not to worry. Feels fine. All other bloodwork normal. Any thoughts?
Brief Answer: XXXXXXX can be a probability
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir.
Elevated GGT along with other liver enzymes in the absence of viral markers and drinking history could point to a condition called NASH( non alcoholic stetohepatitis) .
Also if an hemangioma grows in size it can cause liver enzyme elevation.
Periodical follow up on Liver Ultrasound in mandatory in such cases.
Thank You.
