Question : I had a bout of diarrhea this afternoon, and since then, i've had bloody mucus discharges. Light, not dark blood

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Bloody discharge (fresh blood as is seen in the attached image) seen along with or after diarrhoea can be due to an array of causes like:
+Ulcers
+Diverticulosis
+Infections of the gastrointestinal tract (e.g. gastroenteritis)
+Irritable bowel syndrome
and a few other conditions.
In such a scenario medical attention is required for 3 primary reasons:
1. To treat the underlying cause whether infectious or non-infectious
2. To stop the bleeding and replenish lost blood
3. Fluid and electrolyte management
Taking your age into consideration ma'am, I would not be comfortable asking you to wait and watch at home, and although this is not an emergency, I would request you to visit the ER only because your age requires a little extra care and I would be more comfortable knowing a medical team has examined you and provided you with primary healthcare.

I followed your advise and went to the emergency room. (This was late evening and a Holiday...) I have colitis, and I'm now being treated with antibiotics. Tanks for your reply.
