What Does A Clear Bubble Underneath The Tongue Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, two weeks ago I noticed a clear bubble underneath my tongue, right on one of the saliva ducts. There was absolutely no pain, I accidentally popped it and it bled a bit and then stopped it seemed to go away but then came back and I accidentally popped it again. The third time I was extremely careful and it seemed to go away, however there is now a lump where it used to be. Since then there has been no further bleeding, no pain and no discoloration. Also, the lump seems to have shrunk. Should I be worried about this?

Brief Answer:
ston or calculi, mucocele ranula, surgery

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.

The lesion what you are describing could be because of the stone in the salivary gland duct. Or it could be a mucocele or ranula that is cystic lesion of the salivary gland. Though it seems to be resolving, I would insist you visit a doctor to identify the condition.

If I were your treating doctor I would have advised you to take mandibular cross sectional radiograph to rule out any stone. You can discuss about it with an oral maxillofacial surgeon.

I hope my answer will help you. Take care. If any queries are there reply me me back
