Question: Hi my Genova Stool kit tests just came back. It was a three day collection test and many elements are way out of range. What is concerning initially is my Fecal Fat Total of 77.1 which is twice the number of the high reference range (3.2-38.6 mg/g).
What could this indicate??

Brief Answer:
most likely inappropriate fat metabolism by the gall bladder and/ pancreas..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to HCM..

I've gone through your query and understand your concern..

First of all please let me know what made you undergone for the stool kit test, was it a routine check-up or due to any particular reason ?

Secondly, there can be several reasons for excessive fat excretion in stool and most commonly inappropriate bile secretion(by our Gall bladder which helps in fat metabolism in our body) or any structural anomaly as well as pancreatic enzyme insufficiency, several other causes are there but i'm going there as they'll make you nothing but more anxious..

So please let me know if there's any significant past/present medical/surgical ailments..

At the same time, i'd strongly suggest a visit to your Gastroenterologist for a complete physical examination and further investigations to narrow down the exact cause in this case(clinical correlation is extremely important to diagnose the problem)..

Please let me know if there's any further queries, i'll be glad to clarify..

Take Care
Kind Regards
