What Does A Hollow Feeling In The Stomach Indicate After Every Meal?

Question: Hi i'm a 41 year old female- for the past three months I have been having stomach issues. I have a strange sensation that feels like my stomach is empty even after I have eaten I also often feel mild nausea- at times I feel as if my blood sugar is low (lightheaded, hungry, fatigue...) I have been to my Dr she feels thta it may be acid reflux along with anxiety, I have GAD. I was referred to a gastro he ran an ultrasound which came back fine with the exception of a fatty liver (was told to mind diet and excercise) I was scheduled for an endoscopy (which was rescheduled for mid November) my question is what is the endoscopy looking for- what do you think my stomach discomfort may be and is it ok to wait until November for procedure.
Brief Answer:
Endoscopy is looking for signs of acid reflux!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
I have reviewed your information fully. Endocsopy looks directly at the nature of your esophagus and stomach. This will look for signs of reflux as evident through inflammation and ulcers that might be in the stomach. Given the severity of your symptoms, it is okay to wait up to mid November. Continue with Zantac and if relief isn't great. I will recommend you upgrade to omeprazole which is better at controlling acid reflux than Zantac.
I hope this guides and helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be. Exercise with a fatty liver is very important.

Thanks for the timely reply can acid reflux cause a sensation that feels like an empty stomach along with frequent nausea also can generalized anxiety worsen the sensation for example can the lightheaded feeling be connected to the anxiety rather than the reflux
Brief Answer:
Acid reflux can cause frequent nausea!!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
While all the symptoms, especially those of lightheadedness and empty stomach, cannot be explained by acid reflux, a combination of acid reflux and GAD can explain all of them.
My plan would be to properly address the acid reflux, observe your response and move on from there.
Keep me updated!

One last question I promise I often have a strange feeling in my stomach it frequently feels empty even though I have just eaten which tends to occur with the sensation of nausea is this common with GERD also could the nausea be caused by the Fatty Liver (I was told the fatty liver is not serious)
Brief Answer:
Nausea is often caused by GERD!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Nausea is suggestive of GERD and more associated to that. Fatty liver is unlikely to cause this. the main symptom of fatty liver would be pain in the right side of the belly.
I hope this clarifies your worries.
